Yes Pecan!

Obama!

I wonder if anyone else is feeling this post-election feeling – a mix of elation and depression. I’ve been so fixated by the various races – swore I wouldn’t get too mixed up about the Presidential race, but ended up like everyone else – fixated!!!! The media did a good job of turning something of a landslide which was known for months into a spectacle which shouldn’t have gotten as much attention as it did, IMHO.

All that said, I’m pleased with the results. It seems that we’re moving in a more progressive direction. I’m excited to see what the new Senators – Warren, Baldwin, add to the mix in the Senate. I’m excited that in Oregon the tie in the House is broken which I think will lessen the amount of gridlock there. Perhaps we’ll even see movement on my eliminating phonebook legislation – After the phone book…

I’m definitely in a more contemplative mood than I’ve been in a long time. Looking forward to this weekend’s socializing to talk about some ideas I have.

I’m also spending time tying up loose ends. Something I learned in the past – when you have time, tie up loose ends. That prepares you for things coming up that you’ll want to attend to. So, I’m doing some household stuff, and getting off some campaign email lists, doing laundry and clearing my head and space.

Thanks for listening 🙂

Artist Statement

Artist StatementBrasil Bowling Pin
I created a bowling pin for the upcoming event : Friends of Doernbecher Bowling with Heart Bowlathon on Sunday, November 4 at Big Al’s in Beaverton!  Here is my artist’s statement and a pic of my work:

Albert Kaufman is an artist, visionary, social media expert, and activist for world change living in Portlandia, Oreganic. https://albertideation.com

As a child, I collected stamps. Before Flikr, Picassa, Facebook, and other image-sharing media, we learned about other places in other ways. Stamp collecting was my way of learning about places like Brasil. By looking closely at the images on stamps, one can see beautiful artwork, cultural references, famous leaders, and stunning photography of the world. All in a tiny space like you’ll see on this Brasil Pin. I first really took note of the South American country of Brasil through the music of Forro – the music of Northeastern Brasil. Places like Caruaru and Campina Grande in the state of Pernambuco are the birthplace of this music now popular throughout Brasil and the world. I eventually traveled with the Rotary club via their Group Study Exchange (GSE) program for an all-expense paid one-month long visit to Pernambuco. Brasil is an interesting place with great music; festivals; dance; a lively culture; the theater of the oppressed work of founder Auguste Boal; a culture minister who is basically the Beatles of Brasil (and beyond), Gilberto Gil; incredible fruits, other species, forests, gardens and foods (The Brasil Grill is probably the closest you come here in Portland though there is a food cart….) and I’m happy to have gotten the chance to visit.  I hope my contribution today shares the vitality of the postal systems of the world and introduces future generations to Brasil.

Please take a moment to pick me up, turn me over and look at me closely. Bet you haven’t had an offer like that in a while.

Also, here are some loose stamps. Please feel free to take a few for your enjoyment, or to start your own collection!

Tudu Bom!

Late Summer in The Birthday Garden

Late Summer in The Birthday Garden

Albertideation

Hi there,

Well, it’s been a fine summer, hasn’t it?  I’ve been doing some research these past couple of months and have come up with a few things I think you may find useful.

First, friends lists on Facebook. Sounds simple enough, but the more I talk with people, the more I’m hearing a consistent frustration in FB usage. This short video describes why I think it’s useful to make lists of friends – and how to set one (or more) up.

https://screencast.com/t/H36r7Wh79

I’ve begun working closely with two clients –

Robin Denburg, Realty Robin – https://www.facebook.com/RealtyRobinPortland

And Jane’s Healthy Kitchen: https://www.facebook.com/JanesHealthyKitchen

If real estate (buying or selling a home in Portland) or eating healthier interests you, please do check out Jane and Robin’s pages, like them, and say hello.  Robin’s one of the nicest people involved in real estate I’ve ever met and Jane’s cookbook (due out in November) is sure to be a winner.

Second, Jane and Robin have hired me to “do” their social networking for a month.  We’re trying this out – interestingly, they both picked the same month – so, I’m learning a lot about supporting businesses closely in the social media/website/email marketing space right now.

If such an arrangement sounds interesting to you, let’s talk. I think it’s a valuable way to go – especially to jump-start your marketing efforts if you’re just getting started, but also for those who’ve been at it for a while.  I have been focusing my efforts in this area closely for years now and I understand a lot about how to make the best use of these tools.

I also continue to work with some clients on a one-on-one hourly basis – and that’s proving useful, as well.

In October I’ll begin offering my group classes ($30/2-hours) and I’ll let you know when the next classes are when I schedule them.

I continue to pepper my fan page: https://facebook.com/albertideation with useful tools that I find along the way – if you haven’t visited for a while, a quick scroll down the page will give you some ideas you may not have thought of.  Also, I have also been using my newsletter and website as ways to provide this information to the world.

I hope you’re having a great end of Summer and look forward to supporting you in the coming months and years.

With Gratitude,

Albert Kaufman

National Voter Registration Day – 9.25.12

Voter Registration Day!National Voter Registration DayHappy National Voter Registration Day. Time to make sure everyone is registered to vote.  Here are some resources.

National Voter Registration Page: https://nationalvoterregistrationday.org/

Want to vote early? here are the details for each state: spread it! https://www.longdistancevoter.org/early_voting_rules#.UGHR044ly9d

Please post this further – ask everyone you know in person – “Are you registered to vote?” Many people move around and don’t register at their new place. This election is an important one – we need everyone to vote – to make their voice heard. Thanks!

Making Lists of People on Facebook

Making Friends’ Lists on Facebook

To improve your experience of Facebook – I advise making lists of people – a list can be close friends, business associates, people you share a hobby with or even one person – it’s the quickest way to see exactly the feed you want to. It takes a few minutes to set up, but will make using Facebook a lot easier and more interesting – it has done so for me.

Here’s a video I made on the topic.

Also, you can add a bookmark to your browser – this will make it easier for you to reach the newsfeed of those you’ve chosen for your list. What’s really great about this – is that you’ll see every post from these people/pages! Lists Bookmark

You can also visit a person’s profile hover over the word “friends” or use the pull-down menu there and add the person to any list(s) you’ve created.Friend list pull down lists

This is also useful when you’re holding an event – you can pull up everyone on a particular list at once and invite them en masse.

Here is where lists live as of 2.1.18 – I believe that FB is making it more difficult for people to use this feature – so, I recommend creating lists now before they hinder this further.
