12.12.13 The Eleven

12.12.13 – Happy Holiday edition!

Rounding out a great year!

Hello, and welcome to my monthly e-letter, The Eleven. I hope you stay! It’s been such a fine month since I last wrote. We had a great time at Sabby’s benefit on 11.11 @ The Hollywood Vintage. Pics by all of our amazing photo-booth photographers, here!  We were able to raise a good bundle of money, signed up people to support gay marriage in Oregon, and had a great time together.

My Latest

Quik Learning
My gift to you – faster learning!

Every once in a while I stumble across something that really takes me for a ride. I’m always interested in becoming a better, faster learner, and I’ve been captivated by Quik Learning. Here is video 1: information on how to learn faster. Part 2 on remembering names. Speed-reading is video #3. And, finally, brain-map is video 4.

Try these out when you get a chance and let me know what you think. I’ve been walking around teaching some of these skills and having a blast increasing my reading speed and remembering peoples’ names!

2013 is coming to an end!
Albert @ MS Store 11.20I’ve really had a great year @ Albertideation. I’ve been speaking publicly in the last couple of months and have been working with a great bunch of clients. I am honored to be trusted with peoples’ businesses.
Speaking of teaching – my last two FREE classes this year will be 12.17 at the Microsoft Store in downtown Portland (free breakfast), and 12.19 on the East Side (free lunch!).
My website has undergone some changes recently, too. Please come visit and see what you think.
Wileyware for the Holidays

Here are some of the projects I’m working on right now – visit the links to learn more.
1. Jane Turville of Wagging Tale Productions is creating a new film, The People Factor. Please consider donating to the creation of this important work.

2. It’s always a great time for Wileyware. Marcia is doing incredible classes in her studio in Ballard, Washington – visit if you can.
3. Helping friends: I’ve transitioned from helping causes to spending time, money & effort to extend a hand to friends who have needed help. It’s not as sexy but feels useful and important right now.
4. The Portland Fruit Tree Project – Steve Bennett and I played for their annual volunteer appreciation evening – and I’d like to do more for these folks. Look for a fruit-tree grafting demo-party in the 2nd week of April @ my new home in SE PDX.
5. Settling into my new home 🙂
Thanks for reading and for your support of me and my work in the world. I couldn’t do it without you.
Sincerely,

Albert

Note to Clients 1.14.13

Note to Clients

1.14.13 – Here are important updates about how I communicate with you, what I’m offering, and a change in my rates.Constant Contact
First
off, since I’m a Constant Contact (email marketing) business partner – I am going to start sending my emails to you: someone who has taken my classes, and those who have expressed interest in my work – via Constant Contact. This will mean sharper – hopefully, richer emails for you the next time you hear from me. If this does not interest you, just let me know.

2. I will offer a one-hour free consultation to anyone (anywhere) who uses my affiliate link to sign up for a Constant Contact trial account. See the attachment for advantages to using email marketing. The first 2 months of the trial are free (you have to stay at a low contact count..) It’s a good way to see if email marketing/newsletters are a good idea for your business.  They also offer free accounts to non-profits or organizations that work with children.

Here’s the link

If you want to share this link I won’t stop you! 🙂  Also, if you find Constant Contact is not for you, I have links to all of their competitors @ https://albertideation.com – take your pick!

Due to the changes that Facebook has made = limiting Facebook fan/biz pages’ ability to organically (ie, free) reach their audiences the importance of using email marketing has increased in my opinion.  Here is an article detailing some predictions for this area.

That being said, I still think that social media is important when we think about small business marketing.

On another note, in the area of Groupon-like services, Constant Contact offers something called SaveLocal. I’ve watched one client have quite a high success rate with this. SaveLocal offers go out via email and their charge for organizing your coupons/offers is very low.  For more on SaveLocal feel free to ask me more or check out

https://www.constantcontact.com/savelocal/index.jsp?pn=albertkaufman

I have raised my rates. Social Media classes are now $30 (last year they ranged from $11-$30)  I will continue to work with established clients one-on-one @ $50/hr. New clients who work with me for the first time = $60/hr.  If you’ve worked with me in the past, I hope that you agree that this is a very good deal – I pack a lot into an hour – combining teaching as well as making actual changes to clients’ online presence which are valuable. I have also started to work with clients via Skype and google hangouts. If you haven’t tried this yet – it’s a great way to meet sans commute time!  Via sharing screens just about everything except me serving you tea can take place!  Also, I offer a more complete package of running small businesses’ social media/email marketing/WordPress sites on a monthly basis – get in touch if this sounds appealing.

I’d like to ask you a favor.  One way that future clients decide to work with me is via recommendations on Facebook, Yelp! Or LinkedIn.  If you would be willing, please visit https://facebook.com/albertideation and create a recommendation. I would be very grateful.  Also, if we have worked together in the past and you’d like to see your name/business name on my client list below, please respond with information about your business and I’ll add you! The more websites that link to your website the better your search engine optimization (SEO) is. = a good thing 🙂

I hope 2013 is treating you well so far. Let me know if there is any way I can help you thrive this year. I’m a huge networker – even if it’s not on a topic you’d typically think to turn to me, you’re always welcome to throw me a question and I’ll answer to the best of my ability.

With Gratitude,

Albert Kaufman

Late Summer in The Birthday Garden

Late Summer in The Birthday Garden

Albertideation

Hi there,

Well, it’s been a fine summer, hasn’t it?  I’ve been doing some research these past couple of months and have come up with a few things I think you may find useful.

First, friends lists on Facebook. Sounds simple enough, but the more I talk with people, the more I’m hearing a consistent frustration in FB usage. This short video describes why I think it’s useful to make lists of friends – and how to set one (or more) up.

https://screencast.com/t/H36r7Wh79

I’ve begun working closely with two clients –

Robin Denburg, Realty Robin – https://www.facebook.com/RealtyRobinPortland

And Jane’s Healthy Kitchen: https://www.facebook.com/JanesHealthyKitchen

If real estate (buying or selling a home in Portland) or eating healthier interests you, please do check out Jane and Robin’s pages, like them, and say hello.  Robin’s one of the nicest people involved in real estate I’ve ever met and Jane’s cookbook (due out in November) is sure to be a winner.

Second, Jane and Robin have hired me to “do” their social networking for a month.  We’re trying this out – interestingly, they both picked the same month – so, I’m learning a lot about supporting businesses closely in the social media/website/email marketing space right now.

If such an arrangement sounds interesting to you, let’s talk. I think it’s a valuable way to go – especially to jump-start your marketing efforts if you’re just getting started, but also for those who’ve been at it for a while.  I have been focusing my efforts in this area closely for years now and I understand a lot about how to make the best use of these tools.

I also continue to work with some clients on a one-on-one hourly basis – and that’s proving useful, as well.

In October I’ll begin offering my group classes ($30/2-hours) and I’ll let you know when the next classes are when I schedule them.

I continue to pepper my fan page: https://facebook.com/albertideation with useful tools that I find along the way – if you haven’t visited for a while, a quick scroll down the page will give you some ideas you may not have thought of.  Also, I have also been using my newsletter and website as ways to provide this information to the world.

I hope you’re having a great end of Summer and look forward to supporting you in the coming months and years.

With Gratitude,

Albert Kaufman
